We are working on two new non-fiction books: Bill's Story by Gabi Clayton, and an as-yet untitled memoir by both of us.

Our youngest son, Bill, was openly bi-sexual. In April of 1995, he was assaulted in a hate crime in Olympia, WA (USA).
On May 8, 1995 Bill committed suicide, despite loving support from his family, friends and many wonderful people in our community. Bill was 17 years old. He was a bright, warm and creative young man. He is greatly missed.

In 1996 Gabi posted a brief statement about Bill on her website, which caught the eye of Steve Schalchlin, who helped her put the story on the Web, which has now garnered thousands of responses. We decided it was time for a print version.

Our memoir will include Gabi's history as a "red diaper baby" and her childhood as a daughter of left-wing radicals in New York, and Alec's history growing up in the Deep South, how we met at Everything for Everybody in New York, our adventures publishing an alternative newspaper and running a shelter in Mississippi, and much more.
